I was saved in VBS, at the age of 12 years old. Baptized and member of First Baptist Church, Nowata, Oklahoma. Surrendered to preach the Gospel, and licensed to preach by First Baptist Church, Nowata, OK. We felt our calling was evangelism, however God laid on our heart that before we went into churches to conduct revivals, we should know what a pastor goes through. God called us to pastor First Baptist Church of Lenapah, OK in 1979. We were there 10 years, and never had a year without baptisms, we averaged 11 additions per year by baptism!
In 1989, we went into full time evangelism, although in 1984, while pastor of FBC, Lenapah, we started preaching Cowboy Camp Meetings, with an organization called Ranchmen’s Camp Meetings of the Southwest. We conducted an average of 12 Cowboy Tent Meetings per year through 1999. In 1989, we resigned as pastor at Lenapah and started Steve Cody Ministers, and since 1984, to present, we have conducted over 550 tent meetings in the USA. We still average about 20 tent meetings per year, (we have our own tents which we use at no charge to churches), plus 25 church revivals and Bible Studies each year. Those include several pioneer mission projects each year. We have always had two policies, we go where asked, regardless of the size of the church, and we never ask any set amount of money or travel expense! We take what is given, and if nothing given, that is ok, God has provided well! We have never in our ministry sent out a fund raising letter or asked anyone or church for any financial help.
